To support our next phase of growth we are opening a new Research & Development operation, Jonas Software Solutions, in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
We are now looking to recruit our first wave of Developers, QA Analysts, Designers, DBAs, Product Owners, and other key individuals with all levels of experience to form an integral part of the Jonas business across North America.
As a User Experience Researcher in Research and Development, you will help ensure user expectations are met by working closely with our clients to understand how they use our software. Maintaining a strong customer focus, you will use those learnings along with industry and customer behavior to drive the appropriate design.
The User Experience Researcher will design approaches to learn from our customers and consumers, using a variety of methods to conduct and gather both qualitative and quantitative research data. Engaging with the Product team will effectively plan and manage requirements associated with the findings of their studies.
This position requires creative and innovative thinking and the ability to bring new ideas to fruition. The UXR should have a growth mindset and have the ability to solve complex problems relating to our product and consumer usage of the product. The utilization of interpersonal savvy is required to build and maintain effective relationships both within the organization and with our customers.
This position reports to the Director of Product Quality. The experience level required for this position is greater than 3 years.
Work directly with UX Designers and Product teams to define the consumer experience research and strategy agenda
Identify and prioritize research questions and hypotheses related to UI solutions
Define and execute research approaches, analyze and synthesize research insights
Create wireframes, sitemaps, process flows, polished visual and interaction designs and other artifacts
Actively participate in research conducted by the Product Manager to enable informed design decisions
Collect and assess (directly or as part of the team) user experience and visual design trends, best practices, secondary research findings, and share opportunities for advancement
Work with the UX Designer and Developers to ensure designs are translated appropriately
Occasional Travel to the US on for customer and/or company meetings
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or Psychology, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent work experience
Experience with human-centered design, design thinking, and lean management
Experience with analytics measurement and analysis
Experience in a variety of research methodologies, e.g. field research or IDI’s, co-creation and prototyping, engaging users remotely, survey design and analysis
Fluent in user experience design and research methodologies and tools, including user stories, wire-framing, usability testing, and information architecture
Experienced with online UX and usability testing tools like UserTesting, etc
Excellent communication and presentation skills
