We are looking for additional field technicians to work in our materials engineering department for the Fall and Winter 2021 construction season. Typical duties for first year technicians include concrete and compaction testing for various sites and locations in and around the Peterborough area. The position requires the use of a personal vehicle which you are reimbursed for.
The position requires that the applicant have:
Strong verbal communications skills and be outgoing as there will be daily interaction with other consultants,
contractors and our clients on various types of project sites
Attention to detail – the applicant will be acting as our eyes and ears on the project site
Strong written communication skills – applicant will be filling out site reports with the collected data from the factual testing that he or she conducted
Experience with MS Office and Adobe Acrobat applications – applicant will be required to use MS Word, MS Excel, and PDF files for the completion of site reports and referencing of project documentation
Physically able – applicant will need to traverse constructions sites with testing equipment and samples up to the 50lbs criteria
Be punctual and have good time management - need to arrive on at the office/project site at the scheduled times and may have multiple locations to visit within a single day
Enjoy working outdoors in various types of weather
Enjoy working independently
Have a reliable vehicle

We are currently offering a contract position; with typical a typical start date in May running to the end of November with a possible extension into December or later depending on the project load of our department
This contract position encompasses actively working daily in the field, with very little laboratory or office work
Applicants with previous relevant work experience will be considered for increased remuneration, responsibilities, and contract duration
