The purpose of the Superintendent - Mining role is to be responsible and accountable for all activities conducted in the Mine Department to ensure the safest and most efficient use of manpower and materials, for monitoring processes to attain maximum efficiency, for ensuring crew health and safety, for cost effectiveness,
and for achieving overall environmental and corporate objectives of the operation at Evolution Mining Red Lake Operation.
Roster: Local – 5 days on/ 2 days off/ 4 days on/ 3 days off – 9.5 hour shifts

About the role
The Superintendent - Mining role offers an exceptional opportunity to provide strategic and active direction for underground operations.
Key result areas in this role include:
Prepare and control Mine department’s annual goals, objectives, annual budget and ensure targets are achieved
Provide operations and technical guidance in the development of best techniques, best practices, and the introduction of best equipment to improve the performance of the underground
Provide technical and operating support to various projects
Provide strategy and direction for the development of short and long-term plans for the safe, cost-effective and efficient removal of ore reserves at the budgeted rate
Ensure the underground meets targets on safety, dilution, grade control, development and production
Ensure production plans, ventilation, ground and geological controls are in place to allow for proper stope sequencing
Manage contractors and ensure objectives of the mining agreement are being fulfilled
Assess the performance of the underground operation through reports, control procedures and site inspections, and make the necessary adjustments
Interact with other departments, mining contractors, consultants, MOL and MASHA officials
About our Operation
Our Red Lake Operation is located in an area where you will experience the best in Northern lifestyle, in the heart of a lake-studded, boreal forest region in Sunset Country. Red Lake is known for its natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and incredible Canadian fishing in the many freshwater lakes in the area. The Red Lake district is located 180 kilometers north of Dryden about 100 kilometers from the Manitoba border in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It spans 42,000 hectares and has produced over 29 million ounces of gold since 1949. Our Red Lake Operation includes the Red Lake and Campbell underground mining and processing complexes , and Cochenour , a potential new source of ore. As Evolution’s newest asset and our first in North America, we are excited by the opportunities here.

As a Superintendent – Mining, you will have a Mine Engineering degree. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
Demonstrated experience in underground operations, with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience
Well-developed ability to comprehend and interpret technical language
Solid understanding of budgets
Functions well under pressure and capable of adhering to deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and excellent organizational and prioritization abilities
Good computer skills with competence using Microsoft Office products
Possesses a strong work ethic with excellent decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
Effectively capable of managing performance of others while being a good motivator and coach, and capable of developing others
Remains focused during challenging circumstances
Maintains emotional control under stress and applies tact in difficult situations
