Job Description

Super GeoAI Technology Inc. (https://sga.ai) is a fast-growing geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI) technology company with offices in Saskatoon and Calgary.

SGA is developing GeoAI-driven products that may significantly impact productivity in the wheat production industry. Our products have the potential to revolutionize worldwide wheat production. We are currently adding Artificial Intelligence (AI), programming and Geomatics team members to our Alberta and Saskatchewan offices. SGA is a multicultural and hybrid workforce company. If unlocking AI’s potential to positively impact global food production and security is something you want to be a part of, consider joining our team.

SGA partners with leading universities and institutions in Canada to hire 4 Postdoctoral Fellowships in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or Geomatics. These positions will be supervised by a professor. For this three-year term, your work will be paid as a postdoctoral fellowship at an institution. You will work with SGA’s AI team members to build AI-driven mobile and web applications, and to build GeoAI-driven cloud frameworks for managing, processing, and analyzing spatial big data in agriculture. It is anticipated that you will join SGA as a full-time permanent employee following the three-year term.

The ideal candidate should have completed a Ph.D. in applied machine learning, computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, geographic information system (GIS), or remote sensing (RS) within the last five years (degree completed between 2017 and 2022). Ph.D. students who will defend a dissertation by September 1st, 2022, can apply for this fellowship. The ideal candidates for our team are hands-on, dedicated persons who enjoy fast-paced development cycles spanning from research to production in the order of months.

Our AI team is made up of three groups: a data team responsible for data collection and AI training datasets, an algorithm team responsible for developing and designing AI algorithms and AI solutions, and a software developer team responsible for implementing and developing AI-driven mobile and web applications. You can be either an AI algorithm engineer or an AI software developer. As an AI algorithm engineer, you will understand and analyze our high-quality labeled training imagery and explore, test, and refine our AI algorithms through tests with local field data. As an AI software developer, you are responsible for designing fully functioning, debugged code with required documentation that meets development goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Research and evaluate a variety of software products;

- Explore, develop, customize, test, qualify, and refine our AI and GeoAI-based models through tests with real-world local field data;

- Explore open-source AI algorithms and our own GeoAI algorithms, and develop methods to enhance our AI model accuracy and reliability;

- Develop working prototypes of algorithms, evaluate, and compare metrics based on real-world datasets;

- Provide design input specifications, requirements, and guidance to software engineers for algorithm implementation; and

- Work with customers and AI team members to use GeoAI to solve real problems in agriculture.

Knowledge and Skills

- Deep understanding of statistics and experience with machine learning algorithms;

- Strong programming skills in Python, PyTorch, Tensorflow and/or other ML languages and frameworks;

- Experience working with open-source machine learning and computer vision libraries; and

- 1+ years of experience developing machine learning models or Geomatics in an applied setting is preferred.

Education and Information Required

- Ph.D. in applied machine learning, computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, geographic information system (GIS), or remote sensing (RS) or related field from a premium institution inside or outside of Canada within the last five years (degree completed between 2017 and 2022).

- Ph.D. students who will defend a dissertation by September 1, 2022, can apply for this fellowship.

How to Apply

To apply, send a resume and a cover letter describing your academic qualifications and work experience by January 20, 2022.

SGA will review and process all applications immediately. There is more than one position available. Qualified candidates will be processed on a first come, first served basis.
